There is not a day that goes by where we aren’t packing and sending out a big foot half step, from early in the morning to the last post collection in the evening, they are always flying off the shelves. We thought that we would let you know just why the Bigfoot Half Step is such a popular daily living aid!
Surprisingly, the Bigfoot Half Step isn’t a ballroom dance performed by a yeti. It is in fact one of the most versatile mobility aids we have ever sold.
Quite simply, the Bigfoot Half Step is a step that makes getting into your home easier. Before we carry on, why not take a look at this short video that will tell you all about this fantastic mobility aid.
If people are looking at adapting their home to make life easier, they often concentrate on kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms, overlooking the space outside their home.
When you think about it, the steps going into your house are just as likely to be a hazard as those in the house. Even more so when you consider the “great British weather” and the fact that in the UK it seems to be dark for about 8 of the 12 months of the year.
When we walk into our home, we don’t always mentally prepare like we would for say, getting in and out of the bath. We may have been grocery shopping and just want to get inside as quickly as possible, put the shopping bags down on the kitchen table and put the kettle on for a brew.
Or we’ve just remembered it’s bin day and rushed out to get the bins out before the noisy bin truck trundles into view.
Either way it is easy to forget about the outdoor doorstep and how tricky it could be to navigate.
The Bigfoot Half Step does what it says, it halves the step height. Making for a more gradual increase of height.
Because the Bigfoot Half Step is height adjustable it will be an ideal mobility aid for a variety of step heights.

In a few minutes it can be securely fitted outside your step. With the special grip on the actual step, you can have more confidence about walking, and you won’t have spent time worrying about slipping or tripping.

For additional stability, the Bigfoot Half Step is also available with extra support handles. When first looking at adapting a home for added mobility and support you may not know the best place to install mobility aids.
For example, installing a grab rail to help you to get in and out of the house. Until you have tried a variety of shapes and heights you may not know which is the most suitable position for your particular needs.
If you choose the wrong shape or height, it could actually become more of a hindrance than a help in the long run.
The beauty of the Bigfoot Half Step is that it doesn’t have to be an expensive permanent fixture.
The step can be moved and adjusted, and the available handles can be added and removed as and when you need them.
Just like the half step, the handles won’t need a toolbox and a 125-page set of instructions. The handles simply clip on, or off the half step.
You may find that you need extra support on one particular side of your body, or you might find it more difficult to get about in icy cold weather.
In which case you can add a handle to the left-hand side of the half step or attach both handles when you see the weather forecast is predicting a flurry of wintery weather.
