There's a wide choice of stairlift companies throughout the UK, many of them advertising in the national and local press. It's important to find a company you can trust and one which provides a comprehensive stair lift back up service too as stairlifts (or chair lifts as they used to be called) are mechanical objects and sometimes can go wrong!
Many companies now promote their stairlift range on the Internet which makes it easy to contrast and compare different stairlift suppliers.
Stairlifts provide many people with a great level of independence in their own home and in many cases allow people to stay in and continue to enjoy their own home independently.
Modern stairlifts are quick to install and easy to use. Stairlifts are not as bulky as they used to be either and can also fit the majority of different types of staircases.
When you shortlist companies you are going to approach for your new stairlift there is a number of things to take into consideration including:
- The length of time the company supplying the stairlift has been in business
- Their reputation (see if they've got positive customer reviews online and ask friends and neighbours for their recommendation)
- Their service back up
- The price
- Look for companies who are members of the BHTA (British Healthcare Trades Association) as they have signed up to certain codes of practice.
Stairlift companies usually provide an approximate idea of price to start with and then an accurate quote once they have measured up as there's no such thing as a standard staircase!
